Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (MBT) disclosed on July 23, 2018, that its board already approved the issuance of up to PHP 25 billion in one or more tranches. It would be done through at least PHP 2 billion per installment.
The tenor is 5.5 years up to 10 years, depending on the regulatory approval and market conditions. These bonds would be listed in the PDEX.
On September 17, 2018, MBT announced that it offers Long Term Negotiable Certificates of Time with an interest rate of 5.375 percent per annum. The LTNCDs will have a tenor of five years and six months
These certificates are concerning the authority granted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on July 19, 2018.
They are in denominations of PHP 50,000 and increments of PHP 10,000 after that. The offer period will run from September 17 to September 28, 2018.

Additionally, unaudited net income attributable to equity holders of the Parent Company for the first half of the year ended on June 30, 2018, totalled PHP 11.01 billion. The figure is higher by 15.90 percent or PHP 1.51 billion from the recorded PHP 9.5 billion recorded in the same period in 2017.
Interest income spiked by 18.08 percent or PHP 6.96 billion, at PHP 45.45 billion from only PHP 38.49 billion from the same period in 2017.
However, interest expense increased by PHP 3.26 billion or 36.70 percent at PHP 12.12 billion from only PHP 8.87 billion. The figures came from higher interest expenses on deposit liabilities by PHP 2.22 billion.
Bills payable and other borrowings at PHP 1.03 billion were also considered. Net interest income totalled PHP 3.70 billion, a 12.50 percent increase.
Meanwhile, other operating income totalled PHP 11.79 billion, 13.57 percent rise versus the recorded PHP 10.38 billion for the same period a year ago. This record is mainly due to increase in fee-based income and miscellaneous income.
Nonetheless, trading securities and foreign exchange gains went lower by PHP 0.34 billion or 19.66 percent.
The total comprehensive income was lower at PHP 10.72 billion, a decline of PHP 2.90 billion from the recorded PHP13.62 billion in the same period ago.
Not Yet a Bullish Bias
MBT rallied sharply today but found resistance at the 15 EMA. The moving averages are still bearishly aligned with the 20 SMA and 50 SMA also as possible resistance.
Moreover, Volume profile is not yet that convincing of a bullish bias. MACD is bearish but appears to be reversing.
Furthermore, RSI is turning bullish and is at neutral levels. Estimated support is estimated at 65.00 while expected resistance is at 70.0.
